Attending a course at Lumify Work

Kia ora

Welcome to your upcoming course at Lumify Work (formerly known as Auldhouse).

The following are key topics in preparation for the course we are about to do together.

Videoconferencing

We will be using Zoom or Microsoft Teams for the delivery of the class. You will recieve meeting invites by email. There might be a seperate meeting for each day of the course.

If you are training from home we strongly recommend that you have a second device or screen to access courseware.

We recommend external speakers and mic, as many people find it uncomfortable to wear a headset for several hours.

Please let us know whether you intend to attend remotely or physically at a branch.

Courseware

Microsoft courseware is accessed online, using Microsoft Learn. A link to the course has been sent to you from our booking system.

You must have an account at Microsoft Learn to track your course and exam progress. You should plan to use this account throughout your entire career, so use a personal email account, not a work one.

If you already have an account that you have used for Microsoft exams then use that one for course attendance.

If you are attending a community-authored course then the courseware will be accessed using Skillpipe. See blow for this.

Labs

The labs are also accessed online, using Skillable (formerly known as Learn On Demand). The labs are generally avaiable for 6 months after the start date of the course (though this does depend on the specific course).

You must have an account at Learn on Demand to access your courseware.

Create an account (please do this before class)

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to
    https://auldhouse.learnondemand.net
  2. Click Create an Account.
As with Skillpipe, we recommend that you use a personal email address
Note that the passwords must be complex (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and punctuation).

Add labs (will be done on the first morning of the course)

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to
    https://auldhouse.learnondemand.net
  2. Sign on as your Lean On Demand account.
  3. From the My Training screen, click Redeem Training Key.
  4. Type in your training key (will be provided by the instructor) and click Redeem Training Key.

Microsoft Account for training

If your class uses an Azure Sponsored Trial (your instructor will let you know this in their welcome email) then you must have a Microsoft Account that has never been associated with any Azure tenant.

Create an account (please do this before class)

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to
    https://outlook.live.com/owa/
  2. Click Create free account.
  3. Enter a name, for example aidan.delaney.17dec@outlook.com.
  4. Make sure you record the password! Your instructor cannot help you recover this.
  5. Enter your correct first name, last name, and country (the Azure trial requires these).
  6. Enter any date of birth, as long as the year is more than 18 years ago (to avoid any possible age-gating).
  7. Once signed in, send an email to your work address to verify that the Microsoft Account is active. This might require completing a Verify your account puzzle.

Do not wait until the morning of the class to create this account, as Microsoft's antifraud systems may block the creation of multiple accounts at the same time (they have done this in the past).

Credit Card

The Azure and Microsoft 365 trial tenants do not require the use of a credit card.

Mobile Phone

If you are attending an Azure or Microsoft 365 technical course then you will need to bring a mobile phone to class, to use with multifactor authentication (MFA).

On-premise Attendance

We will provide the learning environment, including PC and audio conferencing equipment. You are welcome, however, to bring your own device. Guest wifi is available.

Classroom etiquette

To help make the experience as good as possible for everyone, please:

  • Ask questions.
  • Make observations.
  • Interact.
  • Manage your mute button.
  • Have your camera on.

Please do not record the training - it is prohibited by the licence agreements we have with our courseware vendors.

Final Welcome

Thank you, and see you [virtually] on the first morning!
